BYLAWS
OF THE AMERICAN BRACE BEAGLING ASSOCIATION
Adopted October 1, 2008
ARTICLE I
Name. The name of this organization shall be the American Brace Beagling Association.
ARTICLE II
Object. The object of this Association is to promote and support the sport of traditional brace beagling and provide its members with a united voice.
ARTICLE III
Membership. Anyone that attends and supports traditional brace beagle field trials is eligible for membership. Annual dues, as determined by the executive board, are payable by April 1. Members with unpaid dues as of July 1 will be dropped.
ARTICLE IV
Officers & Duties
Section 1. Officers. The officers shall be a president, first vice president, second vice president, a secretary/treasurer, and a field trial secretary.
Section 2. Nominations and elections. The board of directors will serve as the nominating committee. The nominating committee may nominate one or two individuals for any vacated office. A ballot is to be sent to all members for vote by mail.
Section 3. Term of Office. Officers will continue to serve until they resign or are removed by a two-thirds majority vote of the board of directors.
Section 4. President. The president shall be responsible for conducting all meetings, for addressing pertinent issues that arise and for keeping the executive board and the membership up to date.
Section 5. First Vice President. The first vice president shall consult regularly with the president and preside in the president’s absence.
Section 6. Second Vice President. The second vice president shall consult regularly with the president and preside in the absence of the president and the first vice president.
Section 7. Secretary/Treasurer. The secretary/treasurer shall be responsible for keeping minutes, handling correspondence, preparing treasurers’ reports, sending out notices, collecting dues, and paying bills approved by President.
Section 8. Field Trial Secretary. The field trial secretary shall be responsible for taking entries and conducting the drawing at any field trials held by the American Brace Beagling Association.
ARTICLE V
Meetings. The annual meeting will take place during one of the Spring Beagle Federations, as called by the president. All officers and board of directors are to be informed of this meeting at least 10 days prior to the meeting. The president many call any other meetings necessary to conduct business and address pertinent issues. The quorum for all meetings shall be 6 members of the Executive Board.
ARTICLE VI
Executive Board. The executive board shall consist of the officers and the board of directors. The board of directors shall consist of 12 members elected by the regular membership by mail-in vote. Directors may serve until they resign or are removed by a two-thirds vote of the executive board. The board of directors will nominate 2 persons for every director vacancy. The Executive board shall have full power over all matters concerning the American Brace Beagling Association.
ARTICLE VII
Committees
Section 1. Audit Committee. The president shall appoint an audit committee of 2 directors to audit the treasurer’s books prior to the annual meeting. The audit committee shall report its findings at the annual meeting.
Section 2. Other Committees. The president shall appoint any and all other committees deemed necessary by the president or the executive board.
ARTICLE VIII
Parliamentary Authority. The rules contained in Robert’s Rules of Order: Simplified and Applied shall govern meetings where they are not in conflict with the bylaws of this Association.
ARTICLE IX
Dissolution. Previous notice and a two-thirds vote can dissolve this association. All outstanding bills will be paid, and the remaining money will be given to selected non-profit beagle clubs and/or beagle federations.
ARTICLE X
Amendment of Bylaws. These bylaws can be amended by previous notice and a two-thirds vote of the executive board.
