ABBA
2010 ANNUAL REPORT
February
9, 2011
Dear Members;
I want
to thank you for your membership in ABBA.
We now have approximately 400 members and had a successful year in 2010.
We again submitted grant requests to the National
Beagle Club requesting Purina funds.
While these requests were for $10,000, we were granted $3000.00 which
was distributed to the host clubs of the seven federations for rabbit habitat
programs.
The
ABBA Participation Award Program, which recognizes beaglers who have attended
all seven federations, resulted in eleven beaglers receiving this award
certificate at the 2010 federations. If
you have attended all seven federations and not received this award please let
Bob Kimber know so you can be added to the list.
In an
effort to assist beagle clubs in obtaining judges books we again printed and
distributed over 2,000 books. These
books are available from Lynette Coil or me.
Please let me know if you need these books and we will make arrangements
to fill the request.
The
National Beagling Breeders Hall of Fame is sponsored by ABBA. Last year, nine beagles and eleven beaglers
were inducted into the Breeders Hall of Fame.
These awards were presented at the federation of the recipient’s choice.
Using AKC data on beagle field
champions, ABBA presented plaques to the owner of the male that sired the most
field champions in 2009; the female that produced the field champions in 2009;
the owner who finished the most field champions in 2009; and the owner who bred
the most beagles that finished for their championship in 2009.
Richard
Butterworth continued his great work with the ABBA website. I encourage everyone who has access to a
computer to look at the website as it contains the most comprehensive
information available in brace beagling.
For example, every person and dog ever elected to Hall of Fame is
listed; all brace AKC field champions that finished since 2002 along with their
sires, dams, breeder and owners are listed; and a directory of ABBA members
including addresses and phone numbers are posted.
We
assisted bracebeagling.com by providing financial assistance to help in
updating their computer software. Thanks
to Larry Lee and those that provide trial results and other information of
interest we have timely access to what is happening with our sport.
We need
your continued support by renewing your ABBA membership. Also, we need your help in encouraging other
brace beaglers to join ABBA. We are only
as strong as our membership.
Our
primary goal is to promote traditional brace beagling and work for those things
that will help make us as strong as possible.
Do not
hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information
in ABBA.
Sincerely,
Russ
