Dear Mr. Speck;

 

            For reasons we cannot explain, someone or a group, at the American Kennel Club = is trying to destroy the long relationship between brace beaglers and the AKC.=

 

            The latest attack on brace beagling has come in the form of a letter from the chairman of the AKC field trail clubs committee which was sent to all commi= ttee members.  Particularly upsetti= ng is the proposed recommendation that the AKC terminates licensing brace trials = as of 9/1/2010 and stop awarding field champion status to brace beagles. =

 

            To the best of our knowledge, the author of the letter, Marshall “Pete” Simonds, has no first hand knowledge of brace beagling a= nd has never attended a brace trial.

 

            It is important that we obtain the official position of the AKC as it relates = to the future of their sanctioning and recognition of brace beagle field trials.  If the AKC position i= s that of Mr. Simonds, we need to be so advised.&= nbsp; If the AKC does not support this position the issue should be put to rest once and for all.

 

            The AKC management team is receiving a one sided and slanted view of brace beagling.  We would be happy t= o meet with whoever AKC designates, to provide the other side of the story. <= /o:p>

 

We urge the American Kennel Club to take immediate steps to remedy this situat= ion before irreparable harm is done.

 

            The officers and board of directors of the American Brace Beagling Association represent some of the most active and influential brace beaglers currently participating in the sport.  W= e look forward to working with you to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. <= o:p>
