HIGHLIGHTS FROM AKC’S

ANNUAL DELEGATES MEETING

            There was a vote on the proposed amendment to Chapter 9, Section 6, of Beagle Field Trial Rules and Standard Procedures for Brace, Small Pack Option Field Trials and Two Couple Pack Hunting Tests.  The proposed amendment was approved at the 70th annual Beagle Advisory Committee meeting and is recommended by the Board of Directors.  This recommendation differentiates the Beagle Field Championship title by the three distinct hunting styles demonstrated in different field events.

 

            The Chair recognized David Bagaley, Delegate for Central Beagle Club, who spoke in opposition to the amendment, based upon its disapproval by the breed parent club, the National Beagle Club.

 

            Doug Ljungren, AKC’s Assistant Vice President for Performance Events and Delegates Christopher Kennan, Empire Beagle Club; Art Boger, Wolverine Beagle Club; Richard Scranton, Northern Ohio Beagle Club; Mario Palumbo, New England Beagle Club; Louis Schmitt, New Jersey Beagle Club and Dr. J. A. Humphrey, Ohio Valley Beagle Club, all spoke in favor of the amendment, as did Dr. J. Charles Garvin, Marion Ohio Kennel Club, and Steven D. Gladstone, Reno Kennel Club.

 

            After discussion, the amendment to Chapter 9, Section 6, the Beagle Field Trial Rules and Standard Procedures for Brace, Small Pack Option Field Trials and Two Couple Pack Hunting Tests was adopted. The amendment will be effective January 1, 20011.

 

            Next was the vote on the proposed amendment to Chapter 9, Section 6 of Beagle Field Trial Rules and Standard Procedures for Large Pack Field Trials.

 

            The proposed amendment was approved at the 70th Annual Beagle Advisory Committee meeting and recommended by the Board of Directors.

 

            This recommendation differentiates the Beagle Field Championship title by the three distinct hunting styles demonstrated in different field events.

 

            There was no discussion, and the amendment was adopted. The effective date will January 1, 2011.
