“TO PROTECT AND PROMOTE TRADITIONAL BRACE BEAGLING”

February 22, 2010

Dear Member:

I want to thank you for being a member of ABBA.  With the help of traditional brace

beaglers, we have been able to accomplish many things this past year.

We submitted two grant requests to the National Beagle Club requesting Purina

funds.  These requests resulted in ABBA receiving $10,000 to distribute to the seven federation host clubs for rabbit habitat programs.

Many beagle clubs have a need for judges books.  As a results, ABBA has printed

and distributed 3000 judges books to beagle clubs.  If you need judges books, see

Lynette Coil or me at the Federations.

The derby classic that has been so successful in North Carolina was expanded

to Kentucky and Pennsylvania.  The results have been mixed due to a lack of

derbies in some areas as well as an early snow storm.  We will try again in 2010.

The ABBA Participation Award Program, which recognizes beaglers who have

attended all seven federations, resulted in ten beaglers receiving this award

certificate at the 2009 federations.

ABBA is now totally responsible for the National Brace Beagling Breeders Hall

of Fame.  This past year two beaglers, Wayne Plemmons and Art Moskaluk, two

stud dogs, F.C. Bee Lick Legend and F.C. J-Line Ezekiel, and six females, Big

Bark Bonnie B, Quarry Hills Casey, Canadian Teardrop, Saltsprings Jolene,

Greytop Josie and Mark-A-Way Leggs, were inducted into the NBBB Hall of Fame.

A tremendous amount of time and effort has gone into the ABBA website.

Richard Butterworth, ABBA webmaster, has done a great job.  The website

actually has extensive data on all aspects of our sport, including Hall of Fame

inductees, federation results, a calendar of upcoming events, a list of all field

champions for the past eight years, names and address of all 393 members,

plus much more.

We have developed a very good relationship with the A.K.C.  I talk to Mel Stewart

on a regular basis concerning issues that involve our sport.  One of the major

problems involved an AKC delegate, David Bagaley, who proposed ending our

sport.  Mr. Bagaley is no longer an AKC delegate.

In the future we will be able to spend more time promoting our sport instead of

defending it.  I hope you will renew your ABBA membership.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours in Beagling,

Russ Arend
